My 2017 Bookish Resolutions.

Hey Nerds !! Welcome back to my blog.
Today, I'm going to share with you My 2017 bookish resolution.
2016 was a good "reading" year for me better than 2015 but I will talk about that more on another post later.

Reading Goals:

1.My 2016's reading goals was to read 60 books. Next year, I decided to read 70 books. I'm definitely sure that I can do it and maybe read even more !?! 80 books !?!

2.I'm going to read each month a classic. Yes, I want to get into classics because I love historical fiction so much!! So why not read a book from an author who actually lived in the past.

3.Read more comics/graphic novels
I have just discovered this genre this year and I really like it btw I'm uploading a wrap up of all the graphic novels I read this year. I want to read more ? If you have any recommendations leave them in the comment section :)

4.FINISH ALL THE SERIES THAT I STARTED ON 2015 AND 2016.
I have a problem with finishing series. It's because of me for example I start a GOOD series and I don't want to finish it because I don't want to END !?! Like what is happening with me right now with the falling kingdom series by Morgan Roads.

5.Read more from different genres like horror, memoir, Romance, stream punk...
I love discovering new genres like on 2016 I discovered my love for Historical fiction.

BLOGGING:
I have a lot of goals but here's few of them...

1.DISCOVERING NEW BLOGGERS.
If you're book blogger leave me the link of your blog to check it.

2.Posting monthly wrap up.

3.Uploading more book reviews.

That's it for Today' post. Comment down below your 2017 bookish Goals. I'd love to hear that.
Bye, Nerds.

Book review #6: The Diviners by Libba bray

Hey Nerds!! I'm back with a review of one my favorite recent read and it's THE DIVINERS BY LIBBA BRAY without further ado let's get started...

The diviners by Libba bray
Series: The Diviners series #1
Genre: Young adult, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Paranormal, Mystery
Pages: 578
Format: Hardcover
5 stars

Synopsis:

Do you believe there are ghosts and demons and Diviners among us?

Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It's 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.

Evie worries he'll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.

As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfurl in the city that never sleeps. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened....

Why I read this book:1920s. Flappers. Ghosts. Serial murders. Paranormal powers. It sounds so interesting. Isn't it ? This book has been on my TBR list since the day I discovered the booktube community.

First of all, before talking about the characters, the plot, the writing style... let's take a moment to appreciate this beautiful cover

You cannot believe how much I'm happy that I have this edition on my shelves (thanks to thrift book shops). To be honest, I don't like the new edition...

Okay Now let's talk about this book!!!
Ughhhh this book is A MASTERPIECE I FREAKING ADORE It..
This is a supernatural ghost story that Took place in 1920's New York. It follows Evie O'Neill who has been exiled from her hometown Ohio after an accident that happened at a party.

Let me tell you about this accident:

Evie has a supernatural power. it's when she touches someone's things (wallet, watch..).
She can read your darkest, Deepest secrets. Of course, She didn't know about at first. Her parents thought she was spreading some rumors and as a punishment (Which I don't think is a punishment) sent her to live with her uncle the owner of the Museum of Creepy Crawlies. After hearing of numerous mysterious murders she uses her powers with the help of her uncle to defeat the spirit serial killer.

Evie befriended: Mabel a shy girl, she doesn't listen to Jazz nor goes to parties and bob haircut because of her strict parents.
Theta who is completely the opposite a flapper a dancer.
Memphis he has a power of healing.
Sam a pickpocket.
Jericho and his secrets.
And so many other characters with deep secrets and stories and they are all connected to the killer.

The book is huge 600 pages but I don't have a problem with big books.
For me the bigger is the better.
The Diviners kinda reminds me of an episode of American horror story.
If you're not familiar with horror novels....a little warning for you that this book contains so many dark scenes a spirit killer !?! Ouija board !?! Honestly, It's not scary but you can say creepy and weird.

Finally, I 100% RECOMMEND YOU to read it. It was spooky, fun read. It captured me from the beginning prologue. The writing style is incredible. It made you feel that Libba bray actually lived in the century with the all fashion and lifestyle details.

Other stuff:

Louise Brooks (November 14, 1906 – August 8, 1985), born Mary Louise Brooks, was an American film actress and dancer noted as an iconic symbol of the flapper, and for popularizing the bobbed haircut.

Flappers were a generation of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz.

Have you read ? Tell me what do you think of it ? You haven't read it yet GO you won't be disappointed :)
Bye, Nerds.

  1. Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: I have no idea what is about but I heard some many great things about it. I cannot wait to read it.

  1. Falling kingdom by Morgan Rhodes
  2. Rebel Spring:These are the first two books in The falling kingdom series. I haven't read Fantasy series in a long time, also. So, I started to pick this series because I heard nothing but good things about it.

Book Tag #4: TMI vs TID

Hey Nerds !! Welcome back to my blog... Today, I'm doing not exactly a book tag but I will talk about my opinion in a book series that I read this year and it's The Shadowhunters Chronicles by Cassandra Clare.

For those who haven't read any of these books I recommend to you to LEAVE because I will talk about The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifice and you will be SPOILED !!!! Bye.

1. Favourite main character: Clary or Tessa?

I will choose Tessa because I don't have that connection that people have with Clary. Actually, I hate her (sorry :/). Plus, Tessa is a book nerd .

2. Favourite Herondale: Jace or Will?
Do I even need to think about this? WILL. Will is my bad and he will always be mine. I love him so FREAKING much. Hs my soul mate and Jace was one of the first fictional characters that I fell completely in love with but now, I don't like him. I think he's annoying like Clary. The thing is with the Mortal Instruments that I like the plot more then the main characters..

3. Favourite love triangle: Simon/Clary/Jace or Will/Tessa/Jem?

Of Course, Tessa, Will and Jem love triangle. We all know that Simon, jace and clary is not a love triangle and also The Wessa/Jessa  triangle gave me so many feels. I couldn't even choose who I wanted her to be with for like the first book. IT'S MY ALL TIME FAVORITE LOVE TRIANGLE.

4. Better Villain: Sebastian or the Magister?
Finally a point for TMI  Sebestian is way better villain than the magister. It runs on his blood.

5. Better army: The Dark Army or The Clockwork Army?
This is another difficult one because both of these armies are equally scary. So, I will give half a point each.

6. Better First Book: City of Bones or Clockwork Angel?
City of bones because it's the first Cassandra Clare book that I read. I think I read in one sitting and also when I first read Clockwork Angel it got me  lot of time to get into it. I think I read it  in two weeks I was confused the whole book but I am sure when I will reread it I will enjoy it more.

7. Better Female Sidekick: Isabelle Lightwood or Cecily Herondale ?
Definitely Izzy don't get me wrong I love cecily too but I know Isabel lightwood more. I think Cecily is in it for like two seconds compared to Isabelle.

8. Better Setting: The New York Institute or The London Institute?
I think I actually have to say both because I love London and England so much and NY, too

9. Better Last Book: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?
Princess, ALWAYS. This book broke my heart and put it back together, then broke it again I couldn't stop crying  while and after reading it I have never cried like that while reading other books.
I do love City of Heavenly Fire as well though, but it wasn’t as fast paced as CP2.

9. Better Last Book: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?
Again, Clockwork Princess…. I have never cried like that for a book than I did at this epilogue. The way that Cassandra Clare wraps up all the series...not just the series but 150 years, hearing about will's life, then his death literally killed me. That epilogue is phenomenal.

And the winner is ....

TID: 6 POINTS    VS           TMI: 4 POINTS

I'm not surprised at all.  In my opinion, TID is a lot better than TMI maybe because I enjoy stories that took place in the past (Historical fiction) especially London in  the Victorian era but also think that in TID we learn more about loyalty and love and friendship...
What about you are you team TMI or TID ?
And What do you think about Shadowhunters the tv show ?
Bye, Nerds.

Book Review #5: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (The dark artifice book 1)

Hey Nerds!!! Today I'm back with a review of my favorite book of the year...It's Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare !!!

A little disclaimer before getting started: I wrote this review right after reading the book. So, If there's some many OMGs and WTFs sorry because I can't stop fangirling and also this review contains 2 sections one spoiler free and the other full of spoilers for those who read or haven't read the book yet.

                           S P O I L E R  F R E E

Lady midnight by Cassandra Clare
Series: The dark Artifice #1
Genre : Action& Adventure, Family, Fantasy, Fantasy& magic, Fiction, Friendship, Love& Romance, Siblings, Young adult
Pages: 720
Format: Hardcover
5 stars
Synopsis:

"The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.
It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.
Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…
Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?
Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series."

Why I read this book:
I love Cassandra Clare' books and the word that she created. And I'm always looking forward to read more about even tho I'm totally fine with the end of City of heavenly fire.

PLOT AND Other stuff:
Lady midnight is the first book in the dark artifice trilogy.
This book take place 5 years after the event of City of heavenly fire (The last book in the metal instruments series)
In this book we follow Emma carstairs the descendent of Jem carstairs she already knows about the Shadowhunters. She's a Shadowhunter. She lives with her parbatai Julian blackthorn and the rest of his siblings in the L.A institute together. They are solving the murders. I really don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil you.
Go read the book blindly it's better!
And if you're wondering should I read lady midnight first?? No you have to read the books by they publishing order to understand what happened to emma' parents what's the cold peace even if lady midnight is way better than the mortal instruments or the infernal devices (my opinion).

The Mortal Instruments Book 1: City of Bones
The Mortal Instruments Book 2: City of Ashes
The Mortal Instruments Book 3: City of Glass
And also don't forget to reading the Shadowhunter Academy. It's a collection of novellas that only available as an ebook. I don't when the book will came but YOU HAVE TO READ IT.

This book was so good this is my second favorite Cassandra clare book. My all time favorite is clockwork princess. There's a big improvement in Cassandra Clare's writing style the world building, character development EVERYTHING.
I read the whole Shadowhunters chronicles this winter and I saw how she's getting better and better.
I just want to say if you read City of Bones and you stopped reading the series because of the plot twists at the end or the romance between clary and jace I highly recommend you to continue and you will see the deference.

The characters in lady midnight are so different from the character of The Mortal Instruments.
The characters in the Mortal Instruments are perfect, heroes, they are born to be legends the characters in Lady Midnight are just regular Shadowhunters a lot people say that Emma carstairs is the female version of jace but I think she's not.
She's strong, She train a lot and I really like her more than Clary (btw I hate clary she's so annoying)

And Julian or Jules "whatever" he's INCREDIBLE !!!! he left brotherhood to become a parent !!! The way he take of his brothers and sisters at 12 years old !!!
Oh my God!! It's so cute.

We have the rest of the Blackthorn I still don't know their name. They kinda reminds me of the Weasleys.
My favorite is the one who is obsessed with Sherlock and there's a lot of new characters and I love how the characters from TMI and TID became side characters and of course you're reading a Cassandra Clare book so get ready for plot twists and turns !!

Finally, I want to say that I really enjoyed every second reading this book that my favorite Start of a series and that's also my favorite 2016 book so far!!

                                               S P O I L E R S

I really don't know how to start my spoilers section. The book is so huge and I cannot talk about every single page but let's start with the plot twists at the end.

In the beginning I thought that maybe Dianna the tutor is behind all these murders but I also thought that Cassandra Clare will not repeat the same thing: tutor, betrayal ...
I am talking about hodge in The City of bones or maybe Cristina in the beginning I couldn't trust her but now she's one of my favorite characters I wish if I had a friend like her !!

I was surprised when they found out that is the highest warlock of L.A but I really feel so bad for Malcom because it's the clave's problem and I love how Cassandra Clare connect Allen Poe's Annabel lee poem with Malcom story Annabel lee is in reality Annabel blackthorn and that epilogue when Annabel opened her eyes in the coffin hopefully I won't have nightmares after reading that.

And after we found about kit is a HERONDALE  not just a Shadowhunter but THE LOST HERONDALE.

If you read tales of Shadowhunter academy I am sure you understood what I mean if you read Tales of Shadowhunters Academy.
If you haven't read these novellas GO READ IT. They are about Simon and characters from TID (Will and Tessa and James Herondale that cutie pie xD) but seriously guys Cassandra Clare is the queen of plot twists I didn't see that coming AT ALLLLLLLLLLL.

And then we meet Tessa and Jem and do you what I was waiting for?? DO YOU KNOW WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR ?!!!!!?????!!!!!! I was waiting for Jem and tessa' son Will Carstair PLEASE tell that I am not the only one who through about that.....

Finally, in the last chapter after 700 pages we discovered why parbatai can't fall in love !! And  I don't know how Emma killed Malcom without knowing the truth if it was me I prefer dying than not knowing the truth so please let's take a moment to thank Jem for that

So yeah Jem told Emma about the secret and I have felling that there's another secret another reason for that and then Tessa came and she said to Emma that she has to leave julian....
Why Tessa WHYYYYY what have I done to you to make me suffer?? You married will you married Jem you're immortal I love you Tessa but why you ruined my life !!!!!!
WHYYYYY Cassie CASSIE, DO YOU ENJOY HURTING US READERS?

okay let's take a deep breath and finally we have SIZZY engagement party and all our ships reunited SIZZY CLACE MALEC speaking of MALEC have you heard about Cassandra Clare's adult trilogy about Magnus bane ??
And then Jace is proposing to Clary. I am not a huge fan of CLACE but I liked that  part so that's it for today thank you for listening to me I can talk hours and hours about this book.

I'm sure that I forgot to talk about some scenes and characters... Comment down below your thoughts, opinions, favorite part !?! JUST FELL FREE TO COMMENT...

Book Review #4: This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Hey Nerds!! I'm finally back !! Sorry, (Again) for the lack of posts I'm so busy and honestly, I haven't read a lot of books recently...
Today, I'm doing a spoiler free and a quick review about my last read.

This savage song V.E Schwab (Monsters of verity #1)
Genre: Fantasy, Young adult, Paranormal
Pages: 464
Format: Hardcover
My rating: 3.5 stars

Why I read this book: Mainly because, I want to get into V.E Schwab' books because I heard so many good things about her writing in the booktube community. So, I decided to start reading her latest release.

For those who don't know this book is: About two teens in a broken world, where violent acts start breeding actual monsters. Some are shadows with teeth that feed on flesh and bone. Some are corpses that feed on blood. And some can pass for human. Those rare creatures feed on souls.
It’s the story of Kate Harker, the only daughter of a crime boss, and August Flynn, the son of a man trying to hold his city together. Kate is a human who wants to be a monster, and August a monster who wishes he were human.

My Opinion:
Okay, let's start with
⭐️the writing is incredible
⭐️The world is unique
⭐️The characters are also unique
⭐️What I also liked that Victoria has no interest in the romance between the two main characters (which is very rare in YA literature)

But It took me about 50 pages to get into the book and there was some ups and downs... I was bored in some chapters.... I didn't know what the book is about!?! What kind of monsters!?! And world they are living in !?! I WAS CONFUSED THE WHOLE TIME
Honestly, I was a bit (I said a bit ) disappointed I thought it was going to be a 5 stars read...I think this book is over hyped...

Will I read the next book??
Yes, sure.
I will definitely reread this book one day when I will have time to understand it more.
And I want to add something...maybe one of the reasons that I kinda disliked the book (I actually enjoyed the book 3.5 stars is a good rate !!) because I was on a reading slump. It's the first (big) book that I read in months.

That's it for Today, Nerds. Hopefully you understood me I have a mixed feelings and thoughts about but overall I can say that it's one of my favorite read this year.

Did you read it?
Did you like it ?
